I just wanted to tell you both thank you for helping us with purchasing our first home! We've been actually living in it for about a week and absolutely love it! I'm starting to learn the joys of home improvement, which mostly include bumps and scratches and multitudes of swear words, but is still strangely rewarding :) I think we will be happy here for quite some time, and I really appreciate you guys putting up with all of my questions! Thanks for your phone call last night. I’ve been so busy packing I was too tired to answer. I highly recommend my realtor. Her name is Julie Scott (619-277-5700) They have a website (www.homesweethomes.biz) which is useful for some basic info and a preliminary search for homes. I have high expectations of the people who work for me and I wouldn’t make a recommendation unless I was satisfied. Both Julie and her partner Sally are pleasant to work with and very flexible in terms of accommodating our busy schedules. Julie is extremely attentive and responsive. 90% of the time she answers her phone, and that other 10% when I leave a message, she always gets back to me promptly. I think Julie understands that although this is only her job, buying and selling our homes influences the course of our lives and it is very important to us that everything is taken care of properly and in a timely manner. We have had a few problems with the people who are selling their house to us, but she has been on top of them and kept them in line. She charged us 5% to sell our home, which is lower than the usual 6%. Because we are buying and selling with her she is also paying for the home warranty for the buyers of our home (about $300). Selling and buying in conjunction has been stressful, but Julie has set us up to close on the same day with both houses and we have two extra days to get moved. It will be easier if you don’t have to worry about selling and buying at the same time because if they happen at the same time that makes both the sale and the buy contingent on each other and creates more opportunities for things to go wrong. The alternative would be to sell and find another place to live while looking for something else to buy; however, that is not practical or inexpensive and would involve moving twice. Julie is definitely a buyer's agent. She was right on the money when she showed us and helped us find our home. We'd had worked with a couple other realtors and stopped using them when we met Julie, due to her attentiveness and insight into the areas and the type of home we were looking for. *Was she knowledgeable and trustworthy? She was absolutely both. She was well informed on the homes she showed us and gave us insight into each of them before she showed them to us, so we could make a decision on whether to see them before "spinning our wheels." *Was she always available when you needed her? She was always ready and available. She showed us houses on a moments notice. She took us out during evenings, weekends, and afternoons, whatever best fit our schedule. *Who found the house you have purchased? (Agent or you?) Julie found the house and took us by it to show it to us. Based on her knowledge of the house, she thought it would be a good fit for our needs, and she was right!!! She knew we would love it, but she also was willing to show us others that fit our needs and she tirelessly worked to get one to the point where we could actually purchase it. *Was she good at advising and negotiating price matters? She was excellent at telling us what she thought about the listing prices on the homes she showed us and she negotiated the prices with expertise and ease. She did not stop negotiating until the deal was either in our favor or we decided against the home purchase. She continually kept in contact with the seller's agents, as well as the loan agents throughout the search and purchase of our home. *Did she meet or beat deadlines for your contract? She was right on top of the deadlines and she went out of her way to make sure that all the papers were signed and submitted before the closing dates. She was always available to meet us anywhere to make it easier for us to meet these deadlines. *Would you use her again? I would absolutely use her again and we have also provided her name and number to others we know who were interested in purchasing a home. *Is there anything else you could tell me about her and her team? Both Julie and Sally were there for us whenever we had a question or if we needed something. They earned our respect and our friendship. Their were both pleasurable to work with and their expertise was outstanding. You could not do better than to have Julie become your buyer's agent. We trust her to put you into the home of your dreams.
